Why is sputnik so important?
Sputnik was the first artificial satellite ever launched to the Earth’s orbit by the Soviet Union which triggered an excessive uproar in the united Stated, and lots of terror and alarming about the U.S. being invaded and bombed from outer space by the “Ruskies.”
Numerous types and size of Sputnik satellites were launched by the Soviet Union for various scientific research purposes after 1957 and the Sputnik series lasted into the 1980s.
It is significant because it showed that going to space was possible, that objects put in space could survive. It was also filled with pressurized nitrogen, if meteorites had pierced holes through the outer casing, this would caused a drop in gravity, which would have caused the thermometer to lose track of temperature which would case the radio frequency to change. It showed that neither radiation nor meteorites were a problem for future space flights.
The launched of Sputnik was a big surprise to America and a nightmare because this proof that the Russians had surpassed them in space technology. The Americans hurried efforts to repeat the achievement failed dreadfully. Both Russian and U.S. technology relied on German scientist who worked on the V2 rocket in World War Two. Sputnik was an alleged accusation on their educational system, that they were too lax, and not bringing up sufficient scientists and engineers. The launch of Sputnik was so significant for the Americans because it roused them up and made sure they put effort to always be a step ahead of the other countries.

Who is to be blamed- U.S.A or USSR?
In my opinion, USA is not to be blamed, I accuse the USSR primarily for the following explanations:
- With no valuable reason of validation, the USSR occupied the autonomous states of Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Estonia as part of a Soviet land-grab and shaped a collectivist government in East Germany.
- They created a communist Yugoslavia which took authority away from four countries, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia.
- These Soviet-style governments that rose in the Eastern Bloc not only replicated Soviet economies, but also adopted the ruthless approaches employed by Joseph Stalin and Soviet clandestine police to suppress actual and possible opposition. As part of the Soviet domination of the Eastern Bloc, the NKVD, led by Lavrentiy Beria, oversaw the establishment of Soviet-style secret police systems in the Bloc that were hypothetically to destroy anti-communist confrontation. When the slightest stimulations of independence emerged in the Bloc, Stalin's strategy was to protect that; they were detached from power, put on probation, imprisoned, and in several occurrences, executed.
- The USSR forced a barrier on West Belin in 1949 which immobilized the flow of all charitable supplies into it. Western nations had to flight nourishment and supplies into West Belin to assure the survival of its citizens.
